Clinic Status as of July 28 / About Digital Eye Strain

We have kept seeing patients as usual throughout this period.

So that people who truly need it can access eye care at any time:
We see it as our responsibility to maintain high-quality eye care in a safe clinic.

I have treated patients whose conditions worsened because they put off a visit.
Examples include keratitis and retinal disease (retinal detachment).

There are several other eye diseases that cannot wait.

In addition to our usual infection-control measures,I have written about the measures we have added and what has characterized our care since spring.

Our current operations during the coronavirus pandemic

Our

○booking system
○and online medical questionnaire(web questionnaire),

which we have used since we opened, are convenient for many people.
We have also improved the format so that it is easy for our medical staff to use.

○ Text message (SMS) notification

lets patients wait outside the clinic, such as in the shopping street or in their car, and many people use this system.
It works with any mobile phone.

○ The doors before and after the exam room
are left open during exams.

○Online first visit
There is not much that can be done online in ophthalmology.

But there were several times I was glad we could use it for a limited set of conditions.

* So far it has worked for people far away, such as in Tohoku and Kansai.

Please feel free to consult us from anywhere in Japan.

Digital eye strain and rapidly progressing myopia

○ Working from home, telework
○ Online classes
○ Online one-on-one tutoring (school and cram school)

For elementary, junior high, and high school students, university students, and adults alike, the structure of society changed all at once.

We are in a situation where smartphones, tablets, and computers are used much more.
Time spent looking at things up close has increased as a result.

I continue to explain the state of the “focusing muscle.”

Sometimes I prescribe eye drops based on the results of an accommodation analysis.

As a fundamental way to improve things,
I often prescribe appropriate glasses or contact lenses.

The state of the focusing muscle is also involved when myopia progresses suddenly (that is, vision gets worse).

“Training your eyes,” “eye training,” “vision training,” and the like
have no scientific evidence behind them.

Rather than training,
it is best to just try
“relaxing the focusing muscle (that is, ‘resting the eyes’).”

The “20-20-20 rule”

✔ I tell people to make a little time to look into the distance.

You will be at home longer 🏡

* Claims such as “looking at green is good for your eyes,” “gazing at mountains improves your eyes,” and “looking at the stars at night is good for your eyes”

can be considered the same thing.
• After looking at something up close for about 20 minutes, rest for 20 seconds
• Look at something about 20 feet (about 6 meters) away: out the window is fine
