Pre-Opening Training: Low Vision

Through a connection with Dr. Tomomi Shimizu, who helped us at last month’s low vision seminar, we were able to hold training using various aids (visual impairment simulation goggles, magnifiers, monocular telescopes, tinted glasses, video magnifiers, etc.). Dr. Shimizu and I previously worked together at the Japanese Society for Ocular Inflammation on matters related to Behçet’s disease. She now plays a central role in the Department of Ophthalmology at the National Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities Hospital (Tokorozawa, Saitama). This time was a chance for all of us to review the key points from the August seminar in Tokorozawa. We want to think progressively about low vision as well, so that it leads to some broadening of options for patients. Thank you for your continued guidance.
