Eye Diseases That May Be Missed in Online Consultations

I have had a few online consultations.

While they are convenient, I feel they come with considerable limits in ophthalmic care.

For that reason, I ask for in-person exams for follow-up visits whenever possible.

(We will talk it through to do what is best.)

In connection with online first visits, here are conditions that need urgent care on the same day.

Uveitis• Redness from keratitis is also possible

* Acute retinal necrosis may be missed

* An inflammatory attack from uveitis may be missed

“Redness, eye pain, headache”

* Glaucoma attack(acute angle-closure glaucoma) may be missed

“I hit my eye” / “Something struck my eye hard”

* A retinal tear or retinal detachment may be missed

“Something flew into my eye while I was using an electric mower”

* It may develop into infectious endophthalmitis (a foreign body inside the eyeball)

“Suddenly seeing double / the pupils suddenly differ in size between left and right / sudden strabismus / sudden drooping of the eyelid”

* Cerebral hemorrhage or cerebral infarction may be missed

The diseases marked (*) above

are ones that leave serious loss of vision or visual field unless we can respond quickly based on an in-person exam.

If the cause is a brain disease, it can be life-threatening.

We would like to carry out online consultations carefully as well.

Please feel free to contact us.
