[Added October 2026] Under the amended Act on Comprehensive Promotion of Labor Policies (in force October 1, 2026), measures against customer harassment are a legal obligation for all employers. Based on this law and the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, our clinic has put in place a system for staff, including a consultation contact point, response procedures, and training.
Takeru Eye Clinic has now drawn up a basic policy on customer harassment (patient harassment) and published it on our website.
Medical care differs from ordinary customer service. We regard patients and medical staff as equal partners who work on treatment on the basis of mutual trust. We have always valued facing each patient sincerely and providing the best possible eye care.
Since opening in October 2018, we have been fortunate to continue practicing in good, trusting relationships with a great many patients. At the same time, it is true that over the past few years we have experienced, on a few occasions, behavior that damages trust, such as verbal abuse toward staff and very long phone calls. Such behavior not only harms the dignity of our staff but also interferes with the care we provide to other patients.
Under the amended Act on Comprehensive Promotion of Labor Policies enacted in 2025, employers will be required from October 1, 2026 to take measures to prevent customer harassment. In light of this amendment, and to protect an environment in which our staff can concentrate on patient care with peace of mind, we have drawn up this policy.
If you have a legitimate opinion or complaint, please tell us calmly. All of our staff will respond to it directly.
