PROFILE
Artists
Natsuki Tsuji
Encountered kaleidoscopes while studying at the Tokyo College of Photography,
and while working as a photographer learned plaster techniques from Mr. Takatoshi Ito.
Since her student days she has created work with the theme of the “heart”
using her own methods.
When she was little, her mother first taught her how to sew on a button,
and she was both worried (“be careful, it’s dangerous”) and praised.
Many conversations, expressions, and spaces came out of sewing on a button.
What came out of it was a wobbly sewn-on button.
It was wobbly, but she remembers feeling a thrilling emotion she had never experienced.
She learned from her mother that art is morality, and at the same time realized that art can add color and richness to people’s souls.
To add color to the soul, the existence of the heart is necessary.
She thinks the heart has many forms, colors, thicknesses, temperatures, and hardnesses.
By increasing the kinds and adding thickness, the soul becomes richer in color.
