Iritis (iridocyclitis / anterior uveitis) is commonly seen in everyday practice. The brown part of the eye (the iris and ciliary body) becomes inflamed, causing symptoms such as redness and blurred vision.
Iritis was once considered to be of unknown cause, but it is now known that many cases are actually caused by viruses, and that the corneal endothelium may also be damaged.
I am always considering whether the inflammation is caused by infection, or by autoimmunity (cells attacking the body’s own tissues) or allergy.
It is something I think about all the time.
Takeru Eye Clinic takes the care of ocular inflammation as its core specialty. Since joining the Kyushu University Ophthalmology department, I have kept my passion for immunology, and I practice by valuing that knowledge and the connections with people.
We now know that the retina and many othereye diseasescan also arise from inflammation.
I am glad that more patients are coming after seeing the website.
Many children visit, and I am very happy when they come from the waiting room to the examination room carrying a picture book.
We have built a clinic that is close to Nishijin Station and Fujisaki Station and easy to visit. Please feel free to consult us.
