Third Anniversary of Opening: Our Practice Policy, “Work That Explains Thoroughly”

Today marks exactly three years since we opened.
We are here today thanks to the help of so many people.
Thank you so much, always.

I decided to do the work of explaining things thoroughly in a small eye clinic without an operating room.
Being able to care for so many patients in the community
makes me very happy, and I practice each day with a calm mind.

Our main efforts and features so far are as follows:

○ Medical office reception staff who treat patients kindly
○ Orthoptistsperform highly skilled eye examinations
Everyone has wonderful individual qualities, and I want a workplace where each person can make the most of their strengths.

○ A Mac-based electronic medical record and image files
○ Explanation monitors installed: showing clear images
○ iPad proused to explain images
In addition, we use the maximum possibleIT in ophthalmic care

○ Eye care suited to a world with COVID:spatial and temporal separation

○ A comprehensive grasp of the condition of the eye with various medical devices
October 2018, at opening: Accommoref® (accommodation analyzer)introduced, to explain eye strain
November 2018: Corneal endothelial cell analyzerintroduced
May 2019: introduced a corneal topography analyzer, and started care forkeratoconus, andorthokeratologytreatment
July 2020: introduced a YAG laser treatment device and started non-surgical glaucoma treatment (SLT)
December 2020: Spot Vision Screenerintroduced, for early detection of amblyopia
July 2021: introduced a critical flicker frequency meter, to handle optic nerve diseases such as optic neuritis
July 2021: introduced a large amblyoscope (synoptophore), to handle testing of strabismus and binocular function (stereopsis)
August 2021: Ultra-widefield fundus imaging and confocal scanning diode laser ophthalmoscopeintroduced, expanding care for the retina, uvea, and glaucoma
(three-dimensional fundus image analysis andretinal angiographyin one integrated device)
 * Without dilating the pupil, we can showbeautiful images of the fundusto you.

Even in a small space, we can now grasp the condition of the eye broadly and in detail.
We make a point of discussing treatments that avoid surgery as much as possible.

○ So that you can recall the explanation after you get home, we write the content of explanations on our website
 (organizing literature from many fields)

○ Cooperation with eye surgeons
○ Cooperation with the Kyushu University uveitis clinic
 Uveitisas a subspecialty

What troubled me when I was a hospital physician, until June 2018,
was a sense that explanations did not always go well.
Explaining so that people understand their eyes is not easy.

• I wanted to talk until patients understand
• So that patients with uveitis can visit at any time
• So that patients who speak only English can visit without hesitation
With these decisions, I opened my own clinic in the Takatori shopping street in October 2018.

By having all of this in place with the smallest possible organization, I feel we are getting closer to the practice I imagined before opening.
Preventive medicine in ophthalmologyhas consistently been at the center of our practice.

I will continue to practice within the range where a single physician can explain carefully.

From this spring I have also become slightly involved in running the shopping street.
Through my connection with music, I am also planning events that children will enjoy.

Please ask us anything you do not understand or are worried about.
We look forward to your continued support.
